In Elizabeth, Resthaven Northern Community Services provides a range of restorative care, therapy, exercise and social support groups offered in the onsite health and wellness centre. In addition, a wide range of flexible home care services allows you to remain living independently at home.
The Resthaven Northern Community Services main office is located in Elizabeth, with a secondary office located in Gawler. Support is delivered in your home by trained home support workers, or at one of our offices.
Services are delivered in a way that supports and respects your choices, independence, and privacy, providing peace of mind. You may choose to receive support with household tasks, home maintenance, shopping, social activities, keeping healthy, personal care and nursing care.
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and for those who have received a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, ongoing aerobic activities can assist with symptoms such as a decline in mobility, postural instability and cognitive decline.
Physiotherapist, Hamid Ansari, is a crowd favourite of the Resthaven Northern Community Services exercise class, with participants calling it "the shortest hour in the week!" Working both in groups and individually in the modern gymnasium at 16 Gillingham Road, Elizabeth, participants enjoy a range of mobility and fitness exercises, all under Hamid’s expert eye.
Resthaven has launched a new government-funded program which aims to support older South Australians living with dementia to stay at home for as long as possible. The ‘Staying at Home in Regional South Australia’ program forms part of the Government’s response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and aims to provide vital education and support to carers whilst their loved one is cared for in the same location by experienced staff.
Resthaven Northern Community Services Coordinator, Donna Haar, loves what she does in aged care, however, she hasn’t always been in the sector. Donna explains, "15 years ago, my 'office' looked slightly different!"

The courtyards at Resthaven Northern Community Services are overflowing with delightful raised garden beds, developed and maintained by clients, Mr David Nicholls and Mrs Jan Gaspari, and Occupational Therapists, Rosalind Wren and Mary-Anne Dempsey.
