Today, Monday 11 November, 101 years on from the end of World War I, most Australians will pause to reflect and remember members of armed forces who died in the line of duty.
ANZAC Day is a day of great significance for all Australians but for World War II veteran, 95-year-old Sandy Concannon, it’s also a day of quiet reflection. The Mercy Place Rice Village resident was a pilot with the Australian Air Force. Through the conflict, he made 35 flights over enemy territory to protect the lives of many and safeguard the freedom of on-going generations.
While many of us are caught up in the day-to-day focus of our own lives, it’s those who look beyond their own needs who were celebrated at Mercy Place Rice Village on International Volunteers Day.
This week, Mercy Place Rice Village officially opened the Racecourse Inn, an in-house bar and activity area at the home.
